Character Info:
Name: Sakura Matou
Age: 16
Canon: Fate/Stay Night
Pull Point: Post Heaven’s Feel, normal ending.

Background Info:
History: http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Sakura_Matou
Personality: When Sakura is first introduced in Fate/Stay Night, she’s seen as a dedicated, kind girl--someone who we don’t see beyond her dedication to doing simple household chores for Shirou in the Fate and Unlimited Blades Work Routes. However, the term “appearances aren’t always what they appear,” may be accurate to describe Sakura.

From her soft-spoken, quiet voice, to the way she sometimes trips and hesitates with her words, Sakura seems to be somewhat shy, yet kind. She appears to be somewhat timid, but inwardly, there’s more to her than what meets the eye. However, with her circumstances, and the person who has kept her going for the years that she was under the Matou’s care, her more negative traits may very well be understandable.

As said, Shirou is the one who is her inspiration, and the person who she has an obvious crush on. After all, it was Shirou’s stubborn nature that also gave Sakura strength, and it was eventually what lead her to begin taking care of Shirou when his non-blood-related Father passed away. Since that day, Sakura had began to take interest in cooking for Shirou, and waking him up in the mornings before school. Though, it’s also because of him that we begin to see a possessive nature from Sakura, and even downright overprotective. During a scene in Heaven’s Feel, she comments that “if she injures his legs to the point where he can’t walk, he won’t be able to be hurt again.’ Not only that, but-- although Sakura is normally soft spoken, the times when she raises her voice is in objection to something concerning Shirou (i.e; Saber living with him). We begin to see a darker side of Sakura early on in Heaven’s Feel due to the fact that he comes home hurt.

Though, again, this may very well be understandable. After all, Sakura more or less maintained a “stoic” personality while receiving constant physical and mental abuse from not only Zouken, but Shinji, as well. It is said that Sakura was able to smile again thanks to meeting Shirou.

Another important relationship in regards to Sakura is Rider. Although Rider was not revealed as Sakura’s original servant until mid-Heaven’s Feel, their relationship becomes obvious during Rider’s conversations with Shirou. The Servant seems to care for her Master more than other servants care for the one who summoned them. Rider truly wishes for Sakura to be happy, and questions Shirou from time-to-time in order to see if he’ll be the one to keep her Master happy. Not only that, but Rider rebels against Sakura in order to help save her from herself.

Though Sakura is in no means weak, mind you. After enduring as much as she has, she strives to have as much normalcy as possible (this may be found through both Shirou and Taiga).

Rin is perhaps another relationship worth mentioning. Sakura comments how she often feels inferior in comparison to Rin--Rin, who got to stay as a Tohsaka and live a somewhat normal life. Rin, who is often admired by many and excels as a magus. Rin is someone who Sakura confesses to be her ideal. Sakura appears to be somewhat intimidated and sensitive when it comes to her sister, but still seeks to be close to her--wishing to call her “Oneesan” and hesitating to call her by such a title until Shirou insists repeatedly that its what Rin wants, as well.

Though Sakura comments that she begins to resent Rin for never knowing her pain, nor coming to aid her when she herself couldn’t escape. However, Sakura’s personality is a somewhat submissive one thanks to her past, and does not mention it until far later on in Heaven’s Feel. An example of her submissive personality can be shown with Shinji--someone who has a great amount of control over her (and even moreso when Sakura wants to protect Shirou from her brother).

However, Sakura’s “darker” personality is important, as well. Sakura, who comes to show her hatred for characters like Zouken and Shinji (Shinji, who she finally kills right before she begins to “change”). During that time, she had began to kill and consume others with little hesitation. Though, it isn’t as if Sakura loses her sanity completely. After all, she shows resistance to kill Shirou and Rin, and even warns them to leave the city before she completely loses what sane mind she still has.

During Heaven’s Feel’s “normal” ending, Sakura vows to wait for Shirou to return and fulfill a promise they made for the Spring, and even continues to try to redeem herself for the sins she had committed, and the people she had killed.

Game Specific:
Arcana:Lovers
Justification: Sakura is a character that is motivated strongly by Shirou Emiya, her love interest and person whom she looks up to greatly. He is her strength, and although he does appear to be a weakness for her as well (he is one of the reasons for her despair in Heaven’s Feel), he is the reason why she is able to find happiness. Of course, if we were to consider the Arcana as something for friendship as well, Rider and Sakura appear to show an unspoken bond of sorts. During a few parts in Heaven’s Feel, Sakura seems to depend on Rider for advice and help. Of course, this seems to be common sense of what a Servant and Master should be like. However, that is not always the relationship that such a bond has in the Fate series.

Indeed, Heaven’s Feel, or Sakura’s route in FSN is one of the most romantic ones -- and through that, you see love as the main motivation for Sakura.

Samples:
First Person Sample: … Uhm.... Hello...? [ blink blink--purple eyes look through the feed curiously ] --Oh. Good afternoon, everyone. I think... I’ve come to understand that this is used to talk to everyone. It’s a little like a phone.

My name is Sakura Matou--and... [ hesitation. she bites her bottom lip ] it seems as though I’ve been sent to this strange place by accident.

--I’m sorry, but may I please go back? I... want to continue to be where I was before.

[ her hands move over her heart, and she looks hopeful as she smiles warily at the feed ] O.... Oh, but if anyone’s seen Senpai--his name is Emiya Shirou--please tell me. Or... Rin Tohsaka, too. Thank you.
Third Person Sample: This was a place she was not suited for -- it was a world that Sakura didn’t wish to be in. Where she wanted to be-- it was back at home, waiting for the one who promised to come back. She never wishes to fight, never wanted a war, so why again...? She had had enough of bringing harm to others--not just other people, but other beings entirely. She had a person to fight with, didn’t she?

She takes in a breath.

“Oh-- I’m sorry.” She smiles at her partner. “I’m... uhm... not feeling well.” It wasn’t a lie. At this rate, she’d be nothing but trouble towards the other person. There were times when Sakura could indeed be selfish, and this was one of those times, but she felt torn on what she should do. Should she be exploring with this person in a new world if she wasn’t having fun? But, it was dangerous to be alone, she knew that.

… Was there a way back to her world? That was one of the many questions that was constantly on her mind, but it remained unanswered. And no matter what answer was given to her, she would continue to wonder.

Character Info:
Name: Eater
Age: who the heck knows, appears at least a teenager
Canon: Blaze Union
Pull Point: post-A route

Background Info:
History: Eater's history is vague. They claim to be Eater the Minstrel, traveling the world in search of strong men to write songs about. She's certainly not faking the appetite for strong men to drool over, but her true objectives lie in mystery. How long have they been wandering? How old are they really? Where exactly have they been? Where is she planning to go besides inside some handsome guy's pants?

Things that are facts: they're a fallen angel of some kind. They have indeed been wandering the world for a while and hear tales of bold and brave men. They also have a split personality that turns from a woman during the day into a man during the night. Is this natural? If not, how do you get a split personality like that? None of this makes any sense.

During the game, she joins up with the main characters' army after the girls rescue her from some men she was pissing off by telling them that they smelled. Also they mentioned that there were strong men in their army and she was hooked. And then night fell, they learned of her split personality, and another weird person was added to the cast of characters.
Personality: Eater's personality has a major split between the female side and the male side.

Female Eater is a romantic, or at least attempts to be one. She wanders the world searching for wonderful gentlemen, and when she even hears about them she starts literally drooling. This is apparently her major goal in life. She's also more than a bit of a ditz. Many people would not tell a group of increasingly angry men that they smell bad. Eater would and did, either oblivious to the fact that they were going to attack her for it or just that badly needing to say that they were smelly.

Male Eater is more careless and rough than that. He doesn't care about any fine gentlemen - he just wants a fight, good food, and the basics of fun living. He wears the same pretty clothing female Eater does because she's the one who gets dressed in the morning, so why bother changing? He's a bit rude and impatient, and can make fun of people for being slow or forgetting that he's a guy during fanservice situations.

Notably, he lacks finesse enough to be the only character in the game unable to use skills. He makes up for it by being really friggin' strong. Female Eater uses her harp to cast magic spells. Male Eater beats enemies to death with it.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Lovers
Justification: What better arcana is there for two personalities in one? Although they have their differences and petty bickerings, male and female Eater are unltimately the same person. They take the same path in life and make choices that the other will accept. Their dual nature is something that they've long since worked out if it was ever a problem, and now it is simply a part of them.

Samples:

First Person Sample: I see you have all been well since I left you last~ Tell me what great deeds have occurred in my absence. There must surely have been a few. After all, we do fight ferocious monsters every night! In the trials of combat, heroes rise to glory. Ah, I can only just imagine how brave they must have been~

...and I suppose I should ask now, to save time, if the bar still has that bartender my other half dislikes.
Third Person Sample: The one thing Eater can count on is that as the sun sets, her mind will fade into the background as his mind takes control. It's impossible for them not to notice, and it's impossible for others around them not to notice, as well. Eater's posture shifts from good to poor in an instant, a sentence began kindly will end with a 'screw you', and something about the gleam in his eyes doesn't feel like it should belong to her.

Because, of course, it doesn't.

It's a bit of an unnerving change to watch, and when Eater is more thoughtful, she will avoid being around others at sunset. She rarely is that thoughtful. For something that's happened for over a thousand years, it often slips her mind.

Personal LJ/DW: [personal profile] endless_sorcerer
Method of Contact: plurk
Characters Played: n/a

Character Info:
Name: Son Goku
Age:  24
Canon: Dragon Ball Z
Pull Point: Just after his first death and having to travel Snake Way.
Background Info:
History: wiki
Personality:

Goku, despite his looks, is actually an alien from the planet Vegeta. He was sent to Earth to destroy it, but was found by a kind old man named Gohan, who would become Goku's adopted grandfather. Goku was a rather unruly baby, until he took a tumble down a cliff and miraculously survived. From that day on, he was the most well-behaved child anyone could ever hope for. But due to being raised by a mountain hermit, he was pretty innocent to the world around him.

Even now, as a young adult, Goku still retains a lot of the personality he had as a child. He's friendly, possibly TOO friendly for some people. He'll trust anyone, even if it's obvious they happen to be the worst people in the world. And despite the fact that he killed plenty of people in his younger years, mainly due to having no concept of morality at the time, he dislikes killing anyone unless they refuse to change their ways. He's pretty much the definition of Stupid Good.

But don't let that fool you. He is strong. Possibly the strongest person in the world. Some of this is due to the natural strength and potential of every Saiyan. But he was also trained by some of the greatest men the world has to offer. But even if he's saved the world from the terror of the Red Ribbon Army and even the Demon King Piccolo, he's more into fighting for fun, and will happily take up any challenge that might be given to him. But even more so if it involves food. Goku loves food, almost to an unhealthy degree. He will devour anything and everything in sight when the mood strikes him. And hilariously enough, he's deathly afraid of needles. Which just goes to show you, it doesn't matter how strong you are. Needles are pure evil.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Fool
Justification:
If Goku is anything, he's an optimist. He always believes things will go right, even if it looks like the complete opposite is happening at the time. He will always believe there's a way to make things right, no matter what. There's also the fact that despite being exposed to the world, he's got a bit of innocence and naivety about some aspects of the modern world. He could be seen as a positive influence for just how good of a person he is. And going by just how many ridiculous power-ups he gets during the series as it progresses? Pretty sure the untapped potential thing applies pretty well.
Samples:
First Person Sample:

[ Video enabled. Anyone watching will find the usually all too cheerful Goku looking kind of... worried? ]

Uh, guys. I've got a question for ya. Wait, is this thing even on?

[
A few seemingly random taps on the touch pad seem to be enough to satisfy him, and so he continues. ]

So, uh. What exactly does it mean when someone says you're "banned for life"? Like, would you not be banned anymore if you died and then came back to life? Because I think I might actually starve to death if this keeps happening.

Third Person Sample:

Well, this was certainly a situation he was all too familiar with. Being out numbered by the enemy never really bothered him, to be honest. The only problem was that Shadows didn't exactly speak in any language he could understand, which pretty much made any negotiations useless. Well, there was only one thing he could do. Play around with them and hope they eventually give up and run away, right? It's not like he's just going to kill something because it's weird. He didn't want to kill anything. Unless it's edible, but that's a totally different story.

And so the shadows went in for their attack, thinking they could easily overwhelm him that way. He thought they were pretty silly, considering he carried a trusty pole with him that allowed him to fling himself out of the way of the oncoming foes. Granted, it wasn't his handy Power Pole, but it worked in a pinch. The closet shadow realized what had happened and attempted to come out him, which only resulted in it getting slapped away with the pole. Even better, he happened to slap the shadow right into the other two, causing a triple damage combo which would hopefully keep them down for a couple of seconds. It was long enough for him to think of his next move, at least.

Nickname: Pie

Personal LJ/DW: [personal profile] tentacular

Characters Played: Aengus Óg

Character Info:
Name: Leanne
Age: In her early twenties.
Canon: Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Pull Point: After the Part 4 Prologue in Radiant Dawn. The world has become silent and Ashera is determined to destroy the survivors, turning the Begnion senators against them. Leanne had only recently protected Naesala from Skrimir, only to need to be saved herself from his anger. The many protagonists have separated into several groups to make their way to the Tower of Guidance where Ashera resides.

Background Info:
History: The game's page on the Fire Emblem wiki
Her species
Leanne's page
Personality: For as long as the heron tribe has existed, it has been known for its passivity. Even at the end, despite great power being at their hands, they were willing to die rather than to lift a hand against another. Leanne, however, is not one of those types.

Although just as delicate as the average heron (even at high levels, one hit will likely KO her) and unable to wield any sort of weapon, Leanne stubbornly refuses to abandon her friends and family. War weakens her, tires her by her very nature as a being of peace, but she refuses to back down.

Her role is as support, using her songs to call upon ancient magic to help her friends. That said, when directly in danger, she is often helpless; while she will fight if it is for her friends, she depends on them quite heavily to defend her. This helplessness can be frustrating, but she's glad to be able to do her part by giving them strength and healing their wounds.

On first glance, Leanne can easily be recognized for a princess. There is an aura of calmness around her at the best of times. At first her speech appears to be nonsense, but her words can be understood even before she begins to learn a rough form of the modern language. The ancient language she uses has a translation, showing her normal speech to be fairly formal and soft.

While her anger can be fierce and she is willing to throw herself in danger to protect her friends, Leanne is generally a fairly gentle and compassionate soul. All herons can usually sense the feelings of other beings and Leanne used hers from the start to help those in need. She's very optimistic and cares deeply. Hatred in particular horrifies her.

Leanne is essentially a friend to all things... that don't try to kill them or have blatantly evil hearts. Her friendships are always strong ones and she remains eternally fond of everyone she knows from her childhood. She is especially fond of Naesala and defends him even despite his self-destructive guilt. At the end of the game, she even marries him if their support links are high enough. Leanne is the voice of morality among her more violent friends- despite having a few unladylike thoughts herself.

Despite her elegance, Leanne can be fairly childish. When Tibarn tells her she can't go with him to the battlefield, she calls him a 'big meanie'. In a few occasions she's shown to use her own language to snark or berate solely because she knows the people listening cannot understand it.

Because of her long sleep, she is likely the most innocent of the laguz - or indeed, most characters in the duology. Like her brother, she cannot eat more than a limited diet in her natural form without getting sick. Unlike him, however, she seems to have a rather food-fixated streak to her.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Sun
Justification: Leanne, as mentioned above, has a very fitting personality for this. As a heron, she's optimistic, gentle, full of love and happiness and generally satisfied with life. Sun is also associated with light - the heron abilities - and healing, through the Apollo connection. The Sun's original design is also often representative of innocence.

Samples:

First Person Sample: I have a question for everyone. Please, forgive me.

[Choose your words carefully, Leanne. She takes a deep breath before continuing.]

What does it mean when someone is 'stacked to the roof'? A gentleman I met today said it while staring at me. These modern clothes are terribly revealing, so I fled the scene out of embarassment.

...I wonder if my brother is 'stacked to the roof' too.

Third Person Sample: How did beorc manage to make it around on these thin legs? For the first time, Leanne was realising how luxurious she had it, being able to fly. Even in the 'Dark Hour', when her wings returned, flight was impossible. It was as if someone had clipped her wings, leaving a feeling of emptiness behind. A feeling of something being missing. She would almost have lost a limb rather than a wing. Was this what Rafiel felt? Losing that ability was even more terrible than she had thought!

But there was no time to worry about spilt water and tragedies. Even when flying, Leanne had never been as fast as Reyson. Running had not made her faster. She fled down the street as fast as she could manage, stumbling more than a few times and veering around a startled Shadow in her haste. The sounds of fighting were not far now. Halting at a crossroads, she closed her eyes to listen more carefully, unnoticing of the Shadow creeping up behind her. To the right, then! Without even realising it, she had just avoided an attack, as she continued on her way to help. The Shadow stared after the retreating back of the unaware heron princess and set off after her again.

Sanaki Kirsch Altina | Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance | Re-app | Where my Emperors at

[personal profile] trueempress 2012-09-25 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Info:
Nickname: Mini
Age: 19
Personal DW: [personal profile] misheard
Method of Contact: Plurk, Misheard.
Characters Played: Ryuunosuke Uryuu, Ledah Rozwelli, Issei Ryudo, V/V, and Eater.

Character Info:
Name: Sanaki Kirsch Altina
Age: 10
Canon: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Pull Point: Shortly after Path of Radiance

Background Info:
History: Twenty years before the start of Path of Radiance, the apostle of Begnion was assassinated. A rumor circulated that the heron laguz of Serenes were to blame, and although the herons were in fact a peace-loving species, the people of Begnion mobbed and wiped out the herons completely.

Flash forward twenty years later. The ten-year old Sanaki is empress and apostle when another country, Daein, invades another country, Crimea, and the princess of Crimea comes to Begnion seeking aid. Before Sanaki will lend her Begnion's support, she has her mercenaries complete a number of minor tasks for her. It's revealed that she's working against the corrupt senate - she cannot oppose them openly, being a ten-year-old girl, but she can subvert their wishes.

When two survivors of the massacre are found, Sanaki gets on her knees and apologizes profusely for what her people did. The survivors forgive her for her guilt, and the wounds between the species begin to heal. Sanaki lends Begnion's troops to Crimea's effort, and the Crimean princess goes on to take back her country. This is the canon point Sanaki comes from.

Personality: Sanaki is better than you. Yes, she is. She's the empress and apostle of the largest country on the face of Tellius. You owe her your respect. Sanaki is very used to getting her way and being paid deference. When she doesn't, she tends to behave like a bit of a brat. She comes across as disdainful in many situations, if not demanding.

However, that's not the only side of Sanaki. She is perfectly willing to go down on her knees and beg for forgiveness for her country. She really does want peace and justice in the world, especially for her home of Begnion. She's aware of the maneuvering of the mostly corrupt senate and is cunning enough to work against them when they step out of line. And when it matters most, in times of war she is willing to work with other rulers as much as she can to end the fighting, ignoring her usual pride.

Sanaki goes through some doubts in Radiant Dawn (the sequel to Path of Radiance) about the legitimacy of her claim to the throne. It's a marked contrast from her usual confidence, and it lasts some time before she comes to realize that her people support her completely, giving her the right to be a just ruler.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Emperor
Justification: Authority: Sanaki is both empress and apostle, and represents the largest country in the world with full power over it (theoretically). Insulting her is a crime, and no single figure has more authority.
Leadership: Sanaki can rally her people behind her. She's well aware of the responsibilities of her position, and devotes her efforts to the important causes of ending strife between the races and helping the common people.
Manipulation of power: Due to her youth, she cannot work against the senate as openly as she would like, and must be more cunning about her choices and methods.
Loss of authority: She is deposed as empress and denounced as apostle in the sequel and must reclaim her position from the senate.
Indecision: Certain powers normally granted to the apostle are missing from her. She goes through a period of wondering whether she is truly meant to be the apostle, and eventually decides to rule only as the empress, to which she has full right.

Samples:
First Person Sample: What fool thinks they can kidnap the apostle and get away with it?! Do you know how many people will have your head for this? I don't know how you got past the Holy Guard, but you've put the entire country of Begnion into a state of high alarm where all of the army, all of the resources, and all of the intelligence gathering will be dedicated to finding me again!

I would not wish my worst enemy to be in your state after I'm found.
Third Person Sample: Sanaki had tried to pick up weapons before, but really, magic was much more suited to her talents. She was well-capable of defending herself with a fire tome, as well as thunder and wind and light. She didn't need to try to increase her strength enough to handle a sword or lance.

...Except that none of those worked here. Without any of her guards to protect her, she was going to have to learn how to pick up a heavy or sharp object and hit things with it. It was crude, and it wasn't going to go easily at all, but it was preferable to dying.

Hm. She was going to need a teacher for this, wasn't she. One that would respect her station, of course.

Character Info:
Name: Zett Takajo
Age: Vague, appears about 16
Canon: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children
Pull Point: After being rescued from re-absorption.

Background Info:
History: An exciting fusion of the anime and game canon!

So there's this demon named Beelzebub who wants to take over the demon world, Makai. The problem is that he is second-in-command to Lucifer. So what he does is seal Lucifer away somehow and then impersonate him. Hooray, world domination is his.

Enter Setsuna and Mirai. These half-human, half-demon Devil Children (specifically, the children of two human mothers and Lucifer himself) enter Makai and start causing all this trouble, saving weak demons from biger bullying demons, being heroes, yada yada. Beelzebub takes note of this. So what does he do? He splits off a part of his own personality (that's the thing with world-conquering demons, they don't trust anyone else so much) and tells him to go spy on them.

This split-off personality is Takajo Zett. He's helpful, working to gain their trust. He shows up conveniently at the right times out of nowhere to save their butts. And, in return, Mirai and (especially) Setsuna come to regard him as a friend, putting themselves in danger to protect him.

Eventually, Zett comes to regard them as friends as well, which is a problem. Because he's just a cast-off personality, eventually the main personality decides to absorb him back in. And kill his friends.

Setsuna and Mirai are not okay with this, either the absorbing part or them dying. Beelzebub seriously outclasses them in combat ability, but just when all things seem lost, Zett decides to assert his own personality just enough to cripple Beelzebub's ability to fight. Heartened by Zett's attempt at saving them, Setsuna and co. manage somehow (idk, there are pentagrams shot out of a gun and sparkles) to pull Zett back out of Beelzebub, and together they defeat Beelzebub.

Somehow Zett survives this. That's how you know it's a kids' show.

Personality: Zett comes off as cheerful and laidback, and it's really not an act. Not much bothers him. He's used to what happens in Makai - unlike the human heroes, he doesn't have the sensibilities of 'innocent demons shouldn't get oppressed all the time' because that's how life in Makai is. Despite that, he isn't about to oppress them himself, either.

He's a bit cocky, and he has the right to be. As a split-off of Beelzebub, an extremely powerful demon, Zett has great powers in his own right, and can handle most dangers on his own. That Setsuna keeps insisting on saving him is kind of annoying, but endearing, in its own way.

Zett may be upbeat, but he isn't stupid or particularly trusting. When someone's planning to backstab his friend, he greets them with a bolt of lightning, and lectures said friend later about getting in the way and later getting stabbed in the back as Zett told him he would. But, despite that he warned Setsuna about this and he ignored the warning, he still came to save Setsuna from his own folly: he's loyal to his friends, once you get his trust.

Zett has a strong will. He resists being reabsorbed for a while, and considering that the power absorbing him is end boss tier Beelzebub, that's saying something. Even when he's reabsorbed, he has enough force of personality to cause Beelzebub physical pain and stop him from attacking his friends for a time. And, eventually he's able to reassert himself and reform his own body.

He also likes dramatically hanging around on high places like trees and giant rocks. And never explaining why he keeps showing up mysteriously.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Moon
Justification: With the Moona arcana being the one about trickery, naturally this is Zett misleading the others to his intentions and being impossible to read, but the most important part of this is fear. Zett comes to fear his reabsorption and inevitably wiping out his friends when they come to be heroic. He fights back against himself.

Samples:
First Person Sample: This is a public service announcement. Some of you know Setsuna Kai, right? About my age, white hair he can't comb properly... He's kind of dumb, and he'll sacrifice himself for you if you're ever in danger, especially once he figures out that you can't die here. So try not to get in danger, or I'll have to come around and save both of you, and it's a pain.

Later.
Third Person Sample: Zett kicked a rock and sighed.

Normally his main personality was impossible to ignore, once it made its presence known. He still remembered being absorbed, and the crushing pain that was Beelzebub trying to submerge his will completely.

Baal Zebul was just another name for Beelzebub. However, aside from the words he said after summoning him, Baal Zebul hadn't spoken to him at all, even when Zett swore at him in his head.

Was this the silent treatment? Was being a Persona some kind of limit to his consciousness? This was way too confusing. Normal people didn't have to deal with split personality problems

Player Info:
Nickname: Pie
Age: 24
Personal LJ/DW: [personal profile] tentacular
Method of Contact: PMing is fine.
Characters Played: Aengus Óg, Leanne

Character Info:
Name: Setsuna Kai
Age: 14
Canon: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children (primarily game but with some anime supplements to round him off, if that's acceptable)
Pull Point: After defeating Hel and freeing Diana, an event that was shortly after the reveal that he was a Devil Child (but not of whom his father was). Due to the anime supplements, this would also be after Zett was rescued from Beelzebub, but still prior to the rescue of Lucifer from Azel's imprisonment.

Background Info:
History: It all began with a woman.

It usually does, of course, when we're speaking of the birth of the antichrist, even one as unusual as this. It began with a woman, and the 'Great Demon' Lucifer who ruled Makai. After his return to his world, Setsuna Kai was born. Though he visited the children often, one day, he simply stopped coming. With the death of that woman, Setsuna and his half-brother Nagahisa were left to their aunt and uncle, busy people who had no time for children. They were all each other had in the world.

Strange dreams began to plague Setsuna. Dreams of a figure he could not recognize, speaking words he did not understand. It was soon afterwards that disasters began occurring throughout the world. Wars, earthquakes, cultists... and then the snow began to fall in the middle of the summer. It heralded a terrible change. Jack Frosts, talking snowmen, came out of nowhere and kidnapped Nagahisa. It was only the appearance of Cool, a Cerberus, that saved Setsuna's life. With that, a contract was formed between them and Setsuna determined to find his way to Makai to rescue his brother. While they were searching, Takajo Zett appeared and used the Rainbow Horn to transport Setsuna to Makai.

There, they discovered that the demon lord had been acting strange lately... and that he had sent someone known as a "Devil Child" after them, to destroy them. Devil Children were the result of unions between demons and humans, and were said to have phenomenal power. Setsuna was soon arrested by the demon lord's fairies and send to the Ice Land ruled over by Hel. There, he met Diana, a female Frost, and escaped with her. However, Zett soon showed up again to tell them that Nagahisa was now with the angels. To find Nagahisa, Setsuna went up against Hel and won, though she warned him that there was nowhere safe from the demon lord.

As the game proceeded, Setsuna discovered that Nagahisa was the son of Archangel Michael, and that he had decided to ally with the angels in their attempt to destroy the world. Unbelieving, he listened as Nagahisa told him of two programs, created by Lucifer. 'Ragnarok' and 'Armageddon'. The ones who control these control the fate of the world. And the key to unlocking them was the Norn's Key, the pieces of which Setsuna had unknowingly been collecting.

Then he left. Later he was found destroying Casino Town, mad with hatred. It horrified Setsuna. Eventually, thanks to Berial, he was informed of who his father was, and learnt where he was. He went to Azael, who had captured him and taken his form, and defeated him. As Lucifer was rescued, he told Setsuna that he was the one who had to decide the fate of the world and decided to be his ally. The choice was his. Cleanse the world with holy fire, or bring it to a new era, where Makai and Earth were bound irreparably closer...

NOTES: Takajo Zett is the split personality of Beelzebub, or just his human form in the games (a fact which is only revealed in the post-game). In the anime, he develops a close bond with Setsuna despite having being intended to destroy him, saves his life on more than one occasion and eventually is saved from becoming absorbed by his original self by him. It is the only anime-related plot point that I wish to use to round-out his personality, as the anime's story is in many ways quite different. The only other anime information I wish to use is simply personality traits to flesh him out a bit more.

Personality: The first three words that come to mind when thinking about Setsuna Kai are these:

-reckless
-clueless
-friendly

Setsuna is far more energetic in the anime than in the game, but even there he's shown to have a fierce level of uncontrollable brashness. He'll gladly charge into danger for the sake of his friends, or even just because he thinks he can win. He's not stupid, but he is fairly slow to grasp things. Often you'll find him awkwardly repeating the things you've just told him with a puzzled look on his face.

Get used to that look. You'll see it often, along with his more serious face. It's a side-effect of being constantly thrown into things the average kid - and even most adults - would not understand. Demons, angels, talking snowmen, other worlds, magic... And of course, everyone else in it usually acts like he's a bit of a prat for not realizing it. But the truth is, his mind is actually pretty sharp. Despite his confusion, he adapts to things quickly and reacts quicker. A good trait for someone like him. He accepts his identity as a Devil Child with surprising ease, adapting to Makai's different lands with little difficulty.

Energetic, determined, and stubborn. These are all words that describe him quite aptly. Even when encased in ice, he struggles. When he's faced with a locked passageway to another world, he insists on trying to find a way there. When he finds out his brother is an enemy, and he must choose between father and brother, between the life of the world and the death of it, he pursues. Surrender is not a word in his vocabulary, although he can get quite down about his situation.

In a lot of ways, Setsuna is both older than his age - as a Devil Child, he has had a lot of weight thrown on his shoulders - and younger, having bursts of childishness. He rarely allows other people to know when he's worried, not wanting to drag them into his problems and make them suffer. Setsuna gets very easily attached to people; Zett (anime primarily, but I would like to accommodate it into this), Nagahisa, Mirai, Cool, the many demons he meets and befriends... they're all people he'd throw himself in front of to save them from harm. Because of the loss of his mother and the absence of his father (due to being kidnapped), Setsuna appears to have separation anxiety and dislikes loneliness.

With that said, Setsuna's suspicions can be easily allayed, allowing distrustful people into his life with few problems. He trusts easily and carelessly. However, his devotion to his brother (and later father) can overcome everything else. He has optimism and hope, but also dislikes having too much responsibility. He doesn't care for philosophy, and has a rather single-minded attitude at times.

When he isn't clouded by rage or worry, he's quite smart. However, he still refuses to believe that Nagahisa has changed so much, that he wishes the destruction of all. He disbelieves in destiny, and has a strong aversion to people trying to control the fate of others.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Star
Justification: Aside from the fact that he is his father's son (and Helel/Lucifer were classed originally as 'Star' in the Persona games), Setsuna embodies many of the traits of the Star Arcana. He brings hope, is generous, kind, confident and has strong hopes for the future and faith in people.

Samples:

First Person Sample:

Hey! You guys, can you hear me?

[Shake shake. Helloooo people! It looks like the Dark Hour is here, and oh, what fun! There's an odd sort of howling in the night. Setsuna looks a little tired, but he grins at the video regardless.]

It looks like we've got a bit of trouble. I could do with having the Devi-Riser here, but I'll have to make do with my Persona. Don't worry, though! I'll keep it away from the residential areas. You can count on me! I'll take 'em down!

...

How do I call the Persona thing again?

Third Person Sample:

It was getting late.

Setsuna Kai swung his legs boredly as he sat perched on the top of the high wall surrounding the school. Five in the afternoon now and still no sign of anyone coming out. "Cool..." he murmured to himself, almost miserably. It had been days - maybe more - since he'd felt truly alone. Time had ceased to matter in Makai. Now he was in this Prospero place and time had become to move again.

Adjusting to it was hard. Almost as hard as adjusting to these crappy new school hours. He had no idea he'd missed the person he was waiting for by about an hour, although he should have guessed by the fact that he was always ridiculously early. These foreign schools had very short days compared to the ones he was used to. That should have been a blessing.

It felt more like a curse.

The heels of his feet smacked against the bricks in an unending litany of boredom. Had his aunt and uncle even noticed he was gone? Or Nagahisa? He doubted it. The thought of his little brother made his stomach ache however and he drew one knee up to rest his cheek against the cool skin of it. If he was so powerful as Zett had claimed, why did he feel so helpless?

Character Info:
Name:Yayoi Kise
Age:14
Canon: Smile Pretty Cure!
Pull Point:post episode 32

Background Info:Canon Wiki
History:Character Wiki
Personality:
When we are first introduced to Yayoi, she’s a shy girl and another character described her as a “crybaby who cries at the slightest nudge”. Over the course of the series however, both she and her fellow Pretty Cures realize how big her heart is even though she still has her crybaby tendencies. Before becoming part of the Pretty Cure, Yayoi was the typical quiet girl that can be found in any middle school. Because of that nature, she didn’t have much close friends before the series started.

She’s a very modest girl and kept her passion for drawing secret from her classmates. It wasn’t until both Miyuki and Akane nudge her to do the school wide poster art contest she gained the confidence to be open about it. She received the honorable mention, but her nature got the best of her and she broke down. During that time Akaoni, one of the Bad End Kingdom’s commanders, pushed the current Pretty Cures into a corner. She realized their true identities and rushed over to them to protect them. Naturally he laughs and asks what can a crybaby like her do. Yayoi stood her ground however and gained her ability to become Cure Peace, the third member of the Smile Pretty Cure.

Another thing she gets fired up about is superheroes/tokusatsu series. Like with her drawing, she hid it from her classmates out of fear of being teased. She’s the first to be on board with Miyuki when they finally discovered the main five Pretty Cures and trying to build their identity, such as creating their catchphrase. It’s a bit of a running gag in the series that she’s a bit wrong genre savvy because even though they’re clearly magical girls, Yayoi calls the Cures “superheroes”.

Yayoi is very sensitive about her bonds between her family and friends. When it was April Fool’s Day, she lied about being transferred to a different school, which began to snowball from Miyuki and then spreading to the rest of the class. Even though she had chances to explain herself, she was afraid of how everyone would lash out at her, especially the other Pretty Cures. During the school’s athletic meet, she overheard some of her classmates say they could win the girls’ relay race if she wasn’t it. Even though she tried to back out and they didn’t win, thanks to her friends, she did her best.

Another incident was based from a school assignment: What does your name mean and why did your parents give it you? When she asked her mother, she said her father named her and Yayoi asked him before he passed away. She began to get frustrated with the struggle to remember to the point she cries and apologizes to her father for not being able to remember. When she finally does remember, she’s very happy and further confirms her love for her father. The reason why her father named her Yayoi (“March” in the lunar calender) is after her mother (Chiharu “a thousand springs"). He wished for his daughter to be just as kind and gentle as her.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Sun
Justification: Yayoi has been able to achieve a lot over the series as both Cure Peace and herself. She always strives to keep her friends and loved ones happy. On the other hand, she still has to deal with her own fears of failure, including almost letting the Bad End Kingdom come very close to their goals. It doesn't stop her from picking herself off the ground and fighting back though. Even her own yellow color scheme fits her as she's one of the brightest, bubbliest girls on the team.

Samples:

First Person Sample:
Ah, um, hello. My name is Yayoi Kise. [She's fidgeting a bit.]
I have a question. Has anyone seen any girls by the name of Miyuki, Akane, Nao or Reika? Or maybe even a white sheep-like ani--I mean plushie, with yellow ears? I haven't been find any of them--

[Suddenly a gust comes by and picks up a piece of paper that was behind her. She immediately rushes to grab and the viewers could probably see a sketch of a super hero on the paper. Her face turns immediately red and she hides it behind her back.]

O-oh no, you weren't supposed to see that! Um just let me know if you seen anyone them, okay? I'm sorry for wasting your time! [The feed suddenly cuts off.]

Third Person Sample:
It was her first night in Prospero and she was still letting everything about this place sink in. She decided to hide out in one of the local tea shops, doing some sketches until it was rather late. Even then, she didn't want to go back to the dorms just yet. Thing was, she didn't check to see the time and the Dark Hour suddenly took over. She screamed when she saw the coffins and the shadows materializing. This wasn't like those times she fought the Bad End kingdom flunkies at all. It still didn't stop her from saying her transformation phrase out of habit though."

"P-Pretty Cure Smile Charge!" Nothing. Yayoi panicked. "O-oh no, this wasn't suppose to...AAH!" She dodged an attack and started to run, trying to hide back the tears welling in her eyes. No transformation meant no Cure Peace to shock them all. Then again, they weren’t Akanbe or anything she’s seen before. What was it she was told could fight them with? Persona.

“Um, I could really use some help here, Persona!” A bright light suddenly shone from above and a serene calm voice of a woman echoed.

I am thou and thou art I. I am the goddess, Sarasvati. My melody both envelopes and strikes foes... Suddenly a burst of lightning came down from above and struck the closest shadow. The others that trailed Yayoi skittered away. She sighed in relief and fell to her knees, the fatigue of the first summoning getting to her.

“I, I’m gonna be okay...”

Characters Played: None

Character Info:
Name: Jin Uzuki
Age: 35
Canon: Xenosaga Trilogy (video game)
Pull Point: Third game, post-death

Background Info:
History: Jin's History
Personality: Jin comes off as a pretty easy-going guy. He's easy to talk to and is likely to have a calm expression on his face. When it comes to people, he's very good at reading them. In fact, he is one of the few people who did not think that the android KOS-MOS was as emotionless as she seemed. He even became genuinely angry when she was wounded.

He tends to have a wise, mentor-like air around him, though he isn't one for apprentices. Jin's casual attitude towards real life, especially his way of living, is a constant source of annoyance for his sister, such as taking things too easily. Jin would prefer things to be resolved calmly and quietly, without battle or all the fuss that comes with an argument. At times, he'll even remain quiet himself and allow the situation to calm itself. That being said, Jin can also be a passionate man. When he aims to do something, he sees it through to the very end and doesn't forget to make sure he's left his mark. He will fight with all he has to protect what's important to him, without a second thought to his own well-being, going to his own demise, even though he was afraid, but knowing that to protect the universe and the people he cared about in it, it was what he had to do. It is discovered at that end that what he was seraching for all along was peace.

Jin cares deeply for the well-being of others. While he complained that his 'patients were annoying' when he ran his medical practice, he tends to an injured man on the side of the road, knowing what he will one day become. He also cares very deeply for his sister, despite the way she treats him. When he shows these things, however, he comes off a little pushy, or a little too calm or may seem to 'brush-off' things. Teasing isn't out of the question, either. It's simply Jin's way of showing he cares.

At one point, his former lover calls him manipulative. To a certain extent, this is very true. Jin prefers things to go his way and will try and steer them in that direction, but he's pretty subtle about how he does this. In a conversation, or in battle, he hates to lose. Jin uses this, though not completely consciously, to push people away. He doesn't see keeping a distance as being lonely, but rather in the best interest of those around him. The only one he really cares to get close to is his sister, though he undoubtedly makes real friends with all of the people he travels with, probably the only people who can deal with him.

There are times, especially in emotional situations, Jin will take the role of a commander. While he does feel for people and their problems, he would rather keep his distance about them. His 'commander' side might not seem all that different, but he undoubtedly is. He becomes a bit colder, seemingly unfeeling, and doesn't take anything from anyone. He barely hesitates when it comes to raising his blade against even his own sister, if it means the protection of the universe itself.

Jin has a fondness for the past. For instance, instead of using a gun, or the lasers that are the common choice in the modern day, he prefers the use of a sword and he will even dress in older, japanese clothing toward the more form fitting and practical clothing in the time period he comes from. He's a scholar, and loves investigating the old and the mysterious and learning all he can about it. All of it is really more of a hobby than anything, but it is what makes him Jin.

While he might not necessarily be the most open guy, he does come off rather friendly to strangers. He's not against having conversations. He is one of the few to be able to actually have a conversation with the android KOS-MOS, who is said to be emotionless, in regards to his sister.

It is important to note that Jin seems to practice Buddhism.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Strength
Justification: Throughout the series, Jin shows several of the attributes, despite everything thrown at him. Not only does he seem rather optimistic, while staying in the realm of reality, but he is among the 'stronger' characters in terms of resolve and fortitude. He willingly draws his sword against the sister he loves dearly to stop the ones throwing the universe into chaos and faces his death unflinchingly. He even admits he's terrified, but has resolved to move forward, knowing what he has to do. He does not stand down in the face of danger or adversity, whether it be against a family member, a foe, a former friend or even death. Jin will see things done that must be done, even if it may be painful.

Samples:

First Person Sample: [It begins with quiet, thoughtful sounds, a little distant from the convenient little communications device.]

I see.

[Just as thoughtful as those pondering sounds just a moment ago, a bit closer and more clear.]

This is a rather interesting device.

[Jin's voice is calm, almost inviting. He seems entirely unconcerned about the situation, which, maybe he is. Or maybe he's just knows how to keep a straight face.]

I'm sure you hear this quite often, but I'm rather interested in this new land, Prospero. Would you mind telling me a little more about it?

[While he spends a little time information gathering outside.]

Whatever you have is appreciated.

Third Person Sample: A strange new world to explore, to learn and make home in, when there should be no home for him to make. It makes him wonder how much of that fight was a dream, how much he still does not understand about the universe and the people he's come to know as friends. He's concerned, not about his safety, or the fact that he does not truly understand how this world exists, how traveling through time to a place lost is exactly possible, but for those who might be here, too. Those who've yet to speak to him, find him among the other citizens.

Ah, but there is so little time to worry about things out of his reach. He is a normal human in yet another world filled with its own kind of monsters--not Gnosis or enemy soldiers, not men fighting for an end that did not come close to justifying the means or machines. They call them Shadows, strange beings that come during this one hour, fierce and persistent. Well, he knows quite well how to deal with these things, doesn't he? He was, after all, probably the most normal, sword-swinging human in their little group of misfits.

Jin shifts his stance, defensive rather than offensive. This is easy enough, he thinks, gazing at a few shadows, just enough to keep him on his toes. At least he won't be bored, with another extra hour in the day.
