DUNGEON BASICS/ITEMS
How does dungeon crawling work?
A party of PCs can only travel up to five floors in a single night, and the maximum number of characters in a given party is also five. There are teleporters on every five floors that lead back to a matching one at Caliban's entrance; characters can either resume from the floor they left off on, or start from 1F and work their way back up.
What about random encounters?
Fighting Shadows in Caliban is left up to players' discretion re: when and how it occurs. The Shadow Database lists which Shadows are found where, as well as how often they are encountered, weaknesses, and resistances. Also note this list is available as a file shared ICly.
What if we want to go treasure hunting?
On each floor of Caliban, up to three chests will be found in varying places. The likelihood of a given item being in a given chest is based mainly on two things; the block a party is in, and the item's rarity. Rarity is noted here on a scale of one to five stars, with one being incredibly likely to appear and five being incredibly unlikely.
When a party is exploring Caliban, they can specify what floors they'll be on a mod can make a note of what specifically will be found on each floor (a maximum of 12 chests total). As an example, a player could specify they will explore floors 1 to 5. One of the mods will then determine through RNG the contents of each chest on each floor, and report back with a list of three specific items for each floor. Unneeded items and weapons can be sold to Eileen at the weapons shop for a small to medium amount, while gemstones apparently have no other practical use but for resale.
At the moment, 100 floors are open, separated into five as of yet unnamed blocks.
