Age: You don’t need to tell us specifics, but we’d like to know if you are under 18. Do not lie about your age, doing so will result in an automatic ban. Personal LJ/DW: Link us to your personal journal, if you have one. If you do not have one, that's fine! Method of Contact: IM, Plurk, Email, PMs, etc. Tell us how we can get a hold of you. Characters Played: How many characters do you play in Velvet Keys and who are they? If you are new, ignore this. CHARACTER Name: The characters name, in western order of first, last. Age: Your character’s age, to your best guess. Canon: The title of the canon or canons your character is from. If you are applying for an original character, state that here. Pull Point: From what point is the character being brought into Velvet Key? Be as specific as possible. BACKGROUND History:The history of the canon setting and the specific history of your character. Either a link or condensed written history will suffice. Personality: We require at least two paragraphs for this section. Here is where you show us how well you know your character. Tell us their good and bad traits, their fears, hopes, dreams, and quirks. How did their relationships and experiences shape them? We don’t just want an overview; give us all the little details that make up this character. GAME SPECIFIC Arcana: Which arcana do you think fits this character? Justification: Why does this arcana fit this character? Give us at least a few sentences of explanation. SAMPLES First Person Sample:This is a main comm post that should be written in the first person. This is the opportunity to show off your character’s voice. We would like this to be at least three to four sentences. Third Person Sample: This sample should be written in the third person, just like an entry for the log comm. This should showcase your character’s personality and how they think, act, and move. We would like this to be at least a paragraph in length. | |

He likes his quiet. He spends a good part of his time reading, and states that he wouldn’t mind moving to one of the more isolated parts of the city. Sizeable buildings intimidate him, perhaps due to his place of birth. However, coming from such a background did give him a variety of unsavory abilities, such as being a subtle pickpocket, an expert at lockpicking and, after his guard duties in the City, an above-average shot.
Blackiris just so happens to be a doctor, having graduated at a particularly young age. Though his particular brand of treatment is not feasible in this world, he’s still deeply knowledgeable about the inner workings of a human mind, and is able to pass for a reasonably good psychiatrist, albeit one that’s not going to get a lot of repeat patients. This is just as well, since Blackiris never wanted anything more out of his job than being able to attain it (a goal he pursued far too fiercely). Now that he’s lost interest, he has a much more bearable personality. Still, while he is not fantastic in many respects regarding the social requirements of being a Mnemonicide, Blackiris does adhere to a strict professional code, and often comes into mild conflict with La due to refusing to let her do any work. He’s not exactly keen on adhering to the code, being fully willing to shoot others if his Guest is in danger, but he will certainly avoid killing when possible, and will most certainly not try to take away the life of someone he knows well.
Blackiris is not proud of his profession. At its heart, it still remains killing the memories of people. The building blocks of a person. Mnemonicides are sanctioned killers that destroy a person so another may live in its place. The fact that he has to cook and clean up after others does not help, as Blackiris, while decently competent in those fields, does not enjoy or believe himself to excel at them. It pays, though, and that’s about the only reason Blackiris puts up with it. At first, at least. As of late, Blackiris has found a new inspiration to carry on in the form of La, who he is determined to protect and care of from now on.
Game Specific:
Arcana: Hermit
Justification: Blackiris has all of one friend. He’s not big on social interaction, and has stated that his ideal calling in life would have been something that allowed him to stay home. Doing nothing. So, not much of a calling at all. However, he also fits the introspective facet of this Arcana. Blackiris does not do things without thinking about them. He will analyze his own state of mind, as well as that of others, to perhaps too great a degree. His ability to fool the minds of others would be indicative of the Fool, if it weren’t from the fact it stems from his own abnormalities – his continued isolation from normal thought.
Samples:
First Person Sample: Right... I don’t know if whoever set this up is part of a terrorist organization, or some sort of fringe government operation. I don’t know, and quite frankly, I don’t particularly care. So long as I am not stopped from leaving this place, I don’t have much in the way of questions. However, given the circumstances, I’d say you owe me at least one: there was a girl with me before I was taken here. Where is she?
I should inform you that she happens to be in my care, thank you very much. If I’m to find that any harm has come upon her, you will not only have to deal with my superiors, but more importantly, me.
Third Person Sample: Let it never be said Dr. Blackiris isn’t a diligent man.
He isn’t, mind. Not by a long shot. Adhering to a lifestyle with clocks for the first time in five years has been hard on him, and it shows on his tired demeanor and clothes, ill-suited for warm weather. Having lived within the confines of a different world within a different world, he’s one degree further than the typical culture-shock-stricken arrivals to Prospero.
But he’s good at faking it. Sometimes. Today just so happens to be one of those times, as he searches the streets of Prospero for a girl appearing in his phone’s contact list. There aren’t many with that name, so he has high hopes, but he can’t help but feel a desire to speak his mind to whoever brought them here after this. It would have to wait. La’s safety was priority number one. In this state, Blackiris was even able to brush off how the surroundings made him feel, so he just kept searching for the distinctive shade of silver in this dark world.
