Character Info:
Name: Issei Ryudo
Age: 17
Canon: Fate/Stay Night
Pull Point: After Unlimited Blade Works.

Background Info:
History: History, what history? Well, there's all this stuff about magi and a holy grail and heroic spirits going on in the background, but none of that is remotely relevant to Issei!

Things that are relevant to Issei: he was born as the son of the owner of Ryudoji Temple in Fuyuki, Japan. He has every intention of becoming a monk; in the meantime, he's the student council president at his high school. Most of his time in canon is spent worrying over his best friend, Shirou Emiya; we hear from him that he's very popular with girls in the school, but luckily for Issei's dignity, we never see that onscreen.

There are a few tidbits of history we get - he has considered one of the teachers who lives in his temple with him a brother for three years, and his hated rival Rin Tohsaka (he considers her a rival, she barely notices him) used to be in the same student council with him. But most of his role is to provide exposition, bring out defining character traits in others, and freak out that one time it looked like he might be a significant character and Shirou told him to strip. (It made complete sense at the time to Shirou, but from Issei's perspective, it was his best friend ordering him randomly in the middle of lunch to take off his clothes, and then doing it by force. And then acting like nothing at all happened later. What even was going on there.)

Did I mention he was a minor character?

Personality: Normally, Issei presents a fairly calm and responsible front. He works diligently as student council president, grumbling good-naturedly about his fellow council members who don't work as hard as him. His friends don't remember him ever missing a class. He drinks tea in the morning, reads poetry, follows his family's heritage as monks (even going so far as to want to shave his head after graduation), and generally is a well-behaved, polite young man.

A few things raise his ire, and when they do, he gets well and truly pissed off. His rival Rin, for example, has earned his enmity for manipulating the entire school into believing her false 'perfect student' impression. He won't hesitate on taking a chance to keep people away from her, or to strike at her if there's an opportunity... unfortunately, she always has the upper hand.

An issue more important to him is the matter of friendship. He only seems to have one real friend, Shirou, but he treats him warmly and with great care. He's always looking out for Shirou, warning him away from dangers like Rin and being taken advantage of for being too much of a doormat. When Shirou misses just one day of school, Issei arrives at his home bearing fruit for the supposed sick student. Issei is always blushing at him and places a great deal of weight in his opinion and happiness.

While Issei tends to be shy and cold towards people he doesn't like, and he's particularly wary around women due to his teachings, particularly beautiful women can break through that. Caster he speaks well of, and Saber he trusts instinctively despite her being in Shirou's home (a massive problem for overprotective Issei).

He's also a dork who can quote poetry and may or may not have a system for working out where to eat school lunch based on if he coughs in the morning. And he's extraordinarily tactile, often grabbing onto Shirou without warning.

Finally, he doesn't believe that normal people should get involved in things above their heads, and he's a normal person. So that will be fun.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Strength
Justification: Passion - Issei has a few subjects he cares incredibly strongly about and cannot be swayed over.
Self control - Normally, he's one of the most restrained characters, and practices self-control as a monk.
Generosity - Issei looks out for his friends even when they don't need being taken care of so much.
Inadequacy - It will take about two seconds for Issei to get upset over being a completely normal person in Prospero.
Unworthy or immoral impulses - He worries a lot over being swayed to wickedness through the charms of women. Way too much, most people would say.

Samples:
First Person Sample: This is a ridiculous situation. It isn't possible for someone to wake up on another continent for no reason. For one thing, who would bother to kidnap a monk? Not even a monk, but a monk in training?

On the chance that this isn't an extraordinarily vivid dream, I'd like to ask for some explanation of what on earth is going on here. I would appreciate it. The only other apparent option would be to beat my head against the wall until the concussion knocks me out and I wake up at home again, but that doesn't appeal as much.

Third Person Sample: Issei wakes up at three AM. He can't help it. That's the sleep schedule that monks keep, and even if he is a continent removed from his temple, he is still a monk.

However, his sleep schedule is designed for him to go to bed at eight PM. Since he can't well leave those monsters out for everyone else to fight, he has to stay up past the Dark Hour. Even if he collapses into bed immediately after, he still looks like death when he wakes up a few hours later.

At this rate, it won't be the Shadows that kill him, but trying to prepare breakfast while falling asleep. He drinks twice as much tea as he used to and drags himself to school. He likes school, he really does - he used to be one of the best students in his class, although not the best. It's just harder to focus when his eyelids keep drooping and he wants to dream of home, of normalcy, of sitting on the step in front of the temple gates and just relaxing.

He really hopes his sleep schedule fixes itself soon. He doesn't want another detention for sleeping in class; it's shameful.
