Characters Played:Saori Nakagawa
Character Info:
Name:Korra
Age:17
Canon:Legend of Korra
Pull Point:Post Season 1, Episode 4 "The Voice in the Night"
Background Info:
History:Series canon and Character specific information
Personality: Korra is in every way opposite of her predecessor, Avatar Aang. While he was a pacifist and much more spiritual in nature, Korra has no qualms about using violence. She’s much more bolder, confident, upfront and often confrontational with others. This is reflected in her element bending. She’s mastered water, fire and earth but has yet to master air: the most spiritual of the elements and a polar opposite to her personality.
Unlike Aang, Korra mastered those elements when she was four. This eventually makes her rather arrogant and highly value her status as the Avatar. It’s not until she sees the Equalist leader Amon demonstrate his ability to take away people’s ability to bend elements permanently she begins to doubt herself. To Korra, bending is all that she has in her life and to have it taken away means she will lose everything. There are have been nagging doubts that her own friends will only see her as the Avatar. Rather than admit to herself and to her peers she’s afraid, she tries to act big and even calls Amon out for a showdown, where he mocks her which dropped her down a few pegs.
Even though Korra is a master of combat and bending, she is socially awkward. This is mostly because she lived a life of seclusion in a compound for her training to be a master warrior the world has called for to restore balance, and developed a confrontational personality from it. She believes in fighting over diplomatic methods to deal with problems but never considers using it to actually kill someone. Even her mentor Katara said she needed the experience in order to develop her into a better Avatar. She only had friends her age when she arrived in Republic City. When she found out the friend she has a crush on went ahead and got himself a girlfriend, she’s less than happy about it.
Game Specific:
Arcana: Fool
Justification:
Untapped Potential: While she’s still young for an Avatar, she still has a lot of work to do to become a fully fledged one. On top of that, she has yet to grow as a person.
Optimism: Despite the events going on when she arrives in Republic City involving the Equalists, Korra manages to stay positive and drives forward to stop them.
Immaturity: Korra maybe a prolific fighter and bender, she’s lacking in the way of being in an society. Her pride and arrogance tends to be weighing her down when it comes to interacting with people.
Samples:
First Person Sample: Dear_Mun post
Third Person Sample:
For Korra, being in Prospero has been jarring to say the least. No one knew what she was talking about when she about benders like herself. Pro-bending didn’t exist either. The animals here seemed to so mundane compared to Naga and Pabu. More importantly, the local kept harassing her to go to school, to which she rolled her eyes and decided to go somewhere else.
The she heard about the Dark Hour over the network, she decided to check it out herself. Of course she didn’t realize that her bending powers were gone. She’s no damsel in distress without her bending abilities. Fists and feet flew as she pushed back the incoming shadows.
“Geeze, there’s no end to them. You guys are persistent. There’s gotta be a better way to get rid of them.”
She stepped back and readied herself into another fight stance when there was a blue shining aura above them. Korra looked up and heard a woman’s voice. A mass of water appeared and shaped into a woman. She continued to float above Korra.
“I am thou...Thou art I. I am the water spirit Undine. I shall grant you my power when you need it most.” As if to prove her point, she aimed a strong jet of water at the closest Shadow.
“I’m not sure what’s going on but this’ll work!” Korra grinned. “Let’s go, Undine!”

Korra is a bold, brash, confident, upfront young woman with much positional and a special destiny. What makes Korra unique is she is the Avatar. In her world, there are benders, people with the gift to manipulate the elements (fire, water, earth and air) and the Avatar is a person able to bend all of the elements and is reincarnated whenever the world needs to have someone restore balance. She is in every way opposite of her previous incarnate, Avatar Aang who brought peace to the world 70 years ago. While he was a pacifist and much more spiritual in nature, Korra has no qualms about using force to settle things.
This is reflected in her element bending. She’s mastered water, fire and earth but has yet to master air: the most spiritual of the elements and a polar opposite to her personality. Even though she was born into the Southern Water Tribe, she tends to use the more dynamic and aggressive fire element in combat or in frustration. Korra's general style for element bending in general is much more straight forward and heavy in offense.
Unlike Aang, Korra mastered those three elements when she was four before she even received any official training, a bending prodigy in her own right. This eventually makes her rather arrogant and highly value her status as a bender and mainly the Avatar.
Once she does have some, she values them highly and they become her greatest allies. When she found out the friend she has a crush on went ahead and got himself a girlfriend, she’s less than happy about it. This doesn't mean she's a "dumb jock" archetype. She has proven to be very resourceful it it's called for and does learn from her mistakes quickly.
