Character Info:
Name: Naoya
Age: 24
Canon: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
Pull Point: Post-Day 7, Naoya Route

Background Info:
History: Game plot, Naoya's wiki page.

Personality:

To people who first meet Naoya, they might come away from an initial meeting thinking that he's a reasonable person - intelligent, well-read, open to ideas, with a sharp mind and a dry sense of humor. This is, of course, what he would like people to come away with, on the whole - because what's beneath is much older and much more full of hatred. He is, in truth, a bitter man with a severe grudge against God for cursing him over five thousand years ago. He can remember everything, from killing his brother to the present day. This has given him a very unique capacity for planning, considering he can and will set up plans years, decades, or centuries in advance.

He has been reincarnated so many times, seen so much of human evil, but he still wishes more than anything else to strike back against God, rather than humanity. Humanity will forget an individual face, even if it's enshrined in legend, but God is the one who pulls the strings for individual misery, and is unchanging. He is the one who remembers, and who keeps up this curse, so He is the one who has to fall.

Naoya is more than obsessed with killing God. There might be a million steps he has to climb to see that goal through, but he's well on his way. After steering his brother onto the path he saw fit and given him the power he needs to face God, Naoya is now confident that the war against God and the angels can begin, and his curse can finally end.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Tower
Justification: Naoya's entire goal has been to cause major changes, ever since he decided to kill God. Part of his stated goal is to also free humanity from God's 'guidance' and give them true free will. He is, however, trapped in more ways than one - by his curse, by his anger, by his obsession - and society's values don't matter too much to him anymore past something he has to work around. In the end, he'll send everyone else crashing down if he has to in order to reach his goal.

[There's a brief pause, and then the man on the screen - white hair, red eyes, total smirk and ease at his surroundings - starts talking. His tone is calm, as if this happens every day.]

Well. This isn't where I just was. For one, the sky is… normal, again.

[Ah, but that's no matter. What is important, however…]

Based on the limited information I've found this place is called… Prospero, correct? Not the name I would choose for an island, but I suppose it's not mine to name.

… And if anyone has any information on exactly where Prospero is, it would be appreciated.

[Click!]

Third Person Sample:

It was almost familiar, this fighting monsters. He had needed to fend off a fair few during the Lockdown, and would continue having to do so, but the way of doing it was far different now. This… 'persona' would have to do for now, as would his newly-acquired pistol.

Still, as he walked the streets, trying to find Shadows to train on, he couldn't help but think that he was wasting his time. He did need to get back to his own world. There were things he could only do there… and after all, he had a task to complete. Naoya wasn't about to let him get away with not doing it.

For now, he would have to content himself with destroying these Shadows, and idly wonder just how much Jung would have a field day over the terms that were being used here.

Character Info:
Name: Chitose Tachibana ~ [personal profile] crimsonbells
Age: ~10
Canon: Fatal Frame/Project Zero II
Pull Point: Shortly before her death, while she is hiding in the closet during the Repentance waiting for Itsuki to come save her.

Background Info:
History: Chitose grew up in a place known as All Gods’ Village, with her two older brothers, twins Itsuki and Mutsuki. No mention is ever made of their parents, though Itsuki and Mutsuki are only fifteen at the time their story takes place, and Chitose is around ten. The village itself is a place of tradition and ritual - every ten years, a ritual known as the Crimson Sacrifice takes place. This grisly ceremony in which one twin strangles the other to appease the Hellish Abyss, over which the village is located, keeps the village itself prosperous at the cost of one life (and, often, the remaining twin’s sanity) every ten years... but unluckily for Chitose, when the ritual rolls around this time, her brothers are the oldest twins, and the ones to complete it.

Chitose herself is too young and sheltered to have any knowledge of this, and when Itsuki and Mutsuki’s ritual fails due to their closeness and love for one another, she doesn’t understand why one of her brothers has returned with white hair and sad eyes and the other hasn’t returned at al. She still doesn’t understand later when Itsuki disappears as well - all she knows is that he’s doing something to help Yae and Sae Kurosawa, the next pair of twins in line for the ritual, and that he had asked her to play a very important role in his plan. She was supposed to give the key to his room to his friend, the outsider Ryozo Munakata, who he’d summoned to the village to help.

However, Chitose had always been terrified of strangers, and though she had promised Itsuki she’d do this for him, when Ryozo actually arrived she was too afraid, and hid in the closet instead of giving him the key. It’s unclear what effect this actually had on the plan, as it would likely have succeeded regardless if Sae hadn’t tripped and hurt her leg as the twins were trying to escape and been recaptured - but either way, the plan failed, and the Repentance hit the village, the catastrophic result of the village’s rituals not being successfully completed in the proper time. The Hellish Abyss spewed forth a dark, dreadful power known as Malice, and everyone in the village died, including Chitose, now trapped in the very closet in which she’d sought refuge. She had hoped Itsuki would come and save her - he’d given her a bell to wear around her wrist and told her that no matter what, when it rang he’d come and find her - but Itsuki was already dead; when the villagers had locked him up for helping Yae and Sae escape, knowing he could do no more and not wanting to live without his beloved twin anymore, he’d hanged himself, and so Chitose died trapped, terrified and entirely alone.

Personality: Chitose is far from a typical ten-year-old. Quiet and timid, serious but still with a naivete that marks the sheltered nature of her existence, she’s a strange mix of an old soul and someone who hasn’t even learned many basic things about the world that someone her age should already know.

Her diaries are the main way we get a glimpse into her personality; the way she writes is in itself the first clue of her childlike nature. She writes in simple, basic sentences, things like “My eyes are not too good”, and her writing is a little disjointed, jumping from topic to topic. Her diary also displays her complete and unwavering loyalty to and faith in her brothers, Itsuki especially, as she writes about the bell he’s given her that will summon him to come to her aid if she should wander near any dangerous places. Logically, it should be apparent that this would only work if Itsuki were in earshot of her bell... but she never thinks to question what he’d told her, that no matter where she’s hiding he’ll hear it and find her. She believes it right up to the very end. Even after her death, she remains firm in the belief that her brother couldn’t possibly do any wrong - refusing to blame him for anything, she blames Yae instead for his disappearance.

Another very important aspect of Chitose’s personality is her paralyzing fear of strangers. It’s implied that she’s often frightened enough of people to hide from them, even in a tiny, secluded village where it’s difficult to imagine everyone wouldn’t be fairly familiar with everyone else. Though she’s very proud when Itsuki gives her the important task of giving his friend a key, though she realizes it’s crucial and only she is able to do it, that is still not enough to help her overcome her fear enough to actually perform the task.

Though there’s not much opportunity to see her interact with anyone in the game itself apart from trying to kill the player, in a place like Prospero I believe she’d really have the opportunity to flourish and grow, though it would take a lot of care, effort and time to get her to trust anyone new. Given what she’d seen and experienced before her death, she’s likely to be very afraid of darkness and small spaces, though it won’t negate the need to hide from other things that frighten her (like strangers) and will put her in a continual state of unrest until she’s able to get used to her surroundings and relax a little. Once she does get to know and trust people, however, she’ll display that same loyalty she shows to her brothers, and when she feels safer in Prospero she’ll be more likely to actually act like a child, if still a very quiet, serious one.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Hanged Man
Justification: I picked the Hanged Man for Chitose based on two major aspects - the devotion and loyalty represented on the positive side, and on the negative, the inability to take action. Chitose displays an extraordinary amount of loyalty to her brothers, Mutsuki and Itsuki, and continues to remain just as devoted to Itsuki after Mutsuki’s death, if not even more so, though she observes in her diary that “Itsuki doesn’t want to talk” and though he’s still nice to her, “his eyes are always sad”. However, in spite of this loyalty, when Itsuki asks her to perform a very important task - give the key to his room to his friend, Ryozo Munakata, as part of his plan to rescue Yae and Sae Kurosawa - she’s paralyzed with fear and hides, never completing this one simple mission.

[the voice clicks on a good few moments before the video, and one can hear the sounds of someone fumbling with the phone, as if the person is unfamiliar with such technology. When the video does come on, it’s slightly shaky - the phone’s operator must not have very steady hands - and it shows a young Asian girl with short hair, wearing a rather worn-looking red kimono.]

I... I wanted to... apologize to everyone I ran away from when I first came here. [she pauses, biting her lip] I didn’t know you were trying to help. I don’t... like strangers much.

[she pauses, brow furrowing as if she’s worried or puzzled, then both video and voice turn off.]

Third Person Sample:
It’s been a week since she’d arrived in this strange new place, and since then Chitose has learned all sorts of things - most importantly, that her brother Itsuki is here as well. That had been an immense relief, and since then, she’s hardly left his side... but today he’s busy, so she’s determined to do just a little bit of exploring, starting with the hotel.

“You can do it,” she whispers to herself as she cracks open the door of Itsuki’s room, peering out at the hallway with wide, slightly unfocused eyes. “It’s not that scary...”

She touches the bell on her wrist for reassurance, smiling a bit at the gentle chime it makes, then slowly creeps out, shutting the door carefully behind her.

Age: 12-13
Canon: Homestuck
Pull Point: Post-death

Background Info:
History: A group of twelve troll kids grew up on a planet called Alternia and communicated with each other mostly through instant messaging. Nepeta was one of them. She was raised by a giant cat in a cave, and killed and ate animals for food. During her six sweeps of life, she forged friendships with much of their group, especially her moirail Equius - think of it mostly as a romantic friendship. She was the one to calm Equius down and rein his destructive tendencies in, and he was the one to look after her and lay down the law trying to protect her.

Anyway. When these trolls were all about twelve-thirteen, they decided to play a game called SGRUB. It was going to be fun, they thought. It also killed all their guardian figures and destroyed their world. Oops. Not part of the plan.

Nepeta teamed up with Equius for most of the game, destroying enemies with their fearsome combination. They made it all the way up to the final boss fight, and won. ...And then some monster came out of nowhere before they could get their prize and forced them to flee to a tiny station in an asteroid belt where they all had to live together and it took about two seconds before tensions started rising.

She stayed close to Equius again, especially after said monster brutally killed her dreamself. When another troll started going on a rampage, Equius warned her to get to safety while he dealt with the problem. She ended up witnessing said troll killing him, and flew into an avenging fury, only to also get killed.
Personality: Nepeta has a very playful personality! She enjoys roleplaying with others, even boring types who won't admit they like it (like Equius). She'll tease her friends over their silly quirks, all in the best of humor.

She adores felines. Her weapons are a pair of claws, she uses her cat guardian's face when she's messaging people, and she peppers her speech with cat puns of all kinds. She acts like a cat when she's roleplaying. This is not so much a stretch, as she is a fearsome master of the hunt who can bring down large animals by herself. And her fake cat tail looks adorable on her.

Nepeta's other hobby, besides roleplaying, is shipping. She has a large shipping chart dedicated to the possible relationships between her friends, whatever kind they might be. She's used to them getting sunk, but still keeps at it. It's fun, and she wants her friends to find happiness.

When it comes to her own happiness in love... Nepeta won't speak out about her own hopeless crush she's been nursing for however long. Not even Equius, who she'll tell almost anything to, knows about it. She doesn't want to make anyone feel hurt, and she knows he probably won't return her feelings, so she just keeps quiet.

Nepeta is excellent at pacifying a situation and cheering people up. She has to be in order to calm down a troll with major anger issues. She gets along in some form or another with most people, except for the really creepy/scary ones. She's hard to get down, and has a bright outlook on life in general.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Lovers
Justification: Besides the obvious parts about her focus being on love, Lovers being about love, Nepeta also has the good intuition to sense the relationships forming between her friends. She's capable of a harmonious union with Equius - practically the only moirallegiance that actually works in the series. As well as that, though, she postpones choices by refusing to say anything about her own feelings.

Samples:
First Person Sample:

:33 < *if anyone helped the poor stray cat, she would be purrleased as punch*

Third Person Sample:
Nepeta taps her pencil against her chin thoughtfully.

She can't decide whether to go flushed or pale with these two. They're obviously defensive of each other and help each other out, but they touch each other way too often for her to just say pale without even considering other quadrants.

...Augh, this one is difficult. She'd better focus on other things for right now, like the Dark Hour coming soon. Maybe it'll occur to her when she's bringing down a Shadow.

It's good to have a lot of interests.

Character Info:
Name: Lucia Nanami
Age: 16 (The manga started after her 13th birthday and ran in real-time, and the characters do occasionally refer to aging and moving up grades in school; she would be 16 by this point unless summer comes more than once a year.)
Canon: Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch
Pull Point: After the three bonus chapters at the end of the manga.

Background Info:
History: Wiki sucks, I'm doing this myself.

Lucia is a mermaid. There are a number of complications herein like turning into a human on land, having her soul be physically represented in a pearl she carries on her person at all times (kinda like Madoka, when you think about it), and the world's most isolationist foreign policy, but that doesn't matter right now. What you need to know now is that she's a mermaid who grew up very sheltered compared to other mermaids; she was told that humans didn't exist until she was six years old, she didn't know she was going to have a coming-of-age ceremony until a good deal after it was supposed to happen, and she didn't know who was ruling her own country of the North Pacific Ocean.

Well, that last one was because the person ruling it was her surrogate sister, Nanami Nicola (why the two of them have Italian first names and Japanese surnames, the world will never know), regent in Lucia's own place. In an attempt to shield Lucia after hearing a prophecy that her life would really suck, everybody unanimously decided to keep her ignorant about just about everything, including the fact that she was the princess.

As you may know, prophecies of this sort have a tendency to come true anyway. When Lucia was six, she snuck up to the surface and discovered that humans were real! But a freak storm happened, she was nearly killed, and she ended up having to save the life of some kid by giving him her pearl (every mermaid has one and carries it around on her person, and it contains her life energy). She would have died herself eventually, being deprived of her pearl, but the sea goddess-queen Aqua Regina showed up and gave her seven years' worth of life until she could get it back. Or something. It's a little confusing. Anyway, flash forward seven years, and Lucia has gone to live in the human world with Nicola (who now owns a bathhouse) and her talking penguin, Hippo. They insist that she needs to find her lost pearl, and coincidentally, she ends up transferring into the class of and sitting right next to Doumoto Kaito, the guy who has it. (Yes, he is named after a couple of popular Japanese musicians.) She gets it back from him after saving him from a water demon, transforms into a sparkly magical idol singer, and learns that she's a princess and that she needs to gather the six other Mermaid Princesses to summon Aqua Regina.

This is gonna be hard. Some guy named Gackt (carrying along the J-rock artist naming theme) and his harem of water demons are trying to take over the ocean by attacking mermaid kingdoms. He's kidnapped two princesses already and the rest are nowhere to be found, so Lucia needs to gather the other princesses, organize a jailbreak for the captives, and lay the musical smackdown on Gackt and the battle harem. She meets two, learns more about the mermaid world, and angsts about various things always coming back to getting Kaito to love her. Which he does, but he's torn between Nanami Lucia the human and that pink Mermaid Princess who is also Lucia, and Lucia also doesn't want to die and thinks she will if she tells him they're the same person. This goes on for two years.

After a giant clusterflip with a fourth princess who insists on doing everything herself because having friends is stupid (and also being Kaito's moral support when he finds out he was adopted... and that he has weird powers involving a glowy cross appearing on his head, too), Lucia and friends decide to storm Gackt's castle... again and again until they can actually pull off their jailbreak. Surprise! The last princess unaccounted for is Gackt's right-hand woman, Sara, who became corrupted due to the forces of Contrived Misunderstandings and Emo. Also, Gackt is the prince of the Panthalassa, a race that was sealed away ages and ages ago by Aqua Regina with a spell that stole one of each pair of twins born to them and dumped the baby in the human world for fear that the power of twins united would break the seal. Also, Kaito is Gackt's twin and thus also the prince. And he's kidnapped him to steal his power. Despite all this, with the power of love speeches and the ability to bleed half their blood and survive, the princesses turn Sara good, free Kaito, and seal the repentant bad guys under the sea again. Although Sara feels bad about causing this whole thing, so she gives Lucia her pearl and goes under the seal too. :(

Happy ending! Kaito's a prince and knows who Lucia is and they're all happy ever after and back to rebuilding the destroyed mermaid kingdoms. Not so fast, Lucia. You still have more foretold suckage ahead. Soon, Kaito disappears while on vacation, and Lucia is accosted by Michel, a creepy androgynous angel in a toga, who wants her to help him carry out some anti-human genocide plan. When Lucia rejects him, Kaito is returned without any memory of Lucia or mermaids and has been taken in by an ill girl named Michal who lets him believe that she is the one who saved him from drowning as a child. Michel has absorbed his memories and is using them to taunt Lucia into joining him, and when she still refuses, he interrupts when she's using Sara's pearl to create a new princess to replace her (which Sara herself had willed to happen). Now Kaito's memories and the unborn princess Seira are at stake, absorbed by Michel. Lucia is in the worst despair she can be in right now, and only thanks to her friends has she not completely lost it and turned out like Sara.

But things get better. Lucia gets close to Kaito and restores his memories of her, and every battle with Michel and his followers gets them back a piece of Seira's heart so she can be born. But when Kaito breaks Michal's heart by going back to Lucia, Michel merges with Michal, who turns out to have been engineered as a host body for him (despite being female...), and eats the rest of his followers alive for the power he needs to destroy the humans. Lucia and friends are not down with this. What follows is a storm of reveal after reveal of "No, I'M the real villain!" that eventually ends up in Lucia and friends singing at the final boss enough to change all their enemies' hearts. Seira is born, Michal is reborn as a healthy child who can live a normal life, and Lucia is happy.

Except for the part where she catches the flu and nearly dies because she used up all her energy (and this didn't happen to anybody else? ...I don't get it either. Neither did the Nakayoshi editors, because the mangaka fought tooth and nail to get this ending). However, instead of dying, she inherits Aqua Regina's power and becomes the new goddess-queen, known to fandom as Lucia Regina, Aqua Lucia, or Lucia Regina Aquae. Yay! Although now they'll probably need a new pink princess. Sequel hook, I guess. I don't know.

..."I don't know" sums up a lot of this manga, really. I haven't even gotten into what a mess mermaid society is.

Personality: Lucia is the main character of a shoujo manga. This should explain a lot of what you need to know about her. She's moderately ditzy (although she's not so much stupid as she is ignorant, mostly due to having been sheltered as a child), she has lofty ideals of romance, and she has a terribly complicated love life that she can and will vent about for hours to any listening ear. In this sense, Lucia is a regular teenage girl like one you can find anywhere. She's a little shy about approaching people -- the only friends she makes in class in the very beginning are those who go up to her, she's completely in awe about it, and when she decides to make friends with the new girl soon after that, she treats it like a major life decision that needs an extra shot of courage to get through. She also has a shoujo heroine's terrible tendency to assume the worst of situations, not look beyond what she sees, and put on an act that she's okay while she depresses herself into a terrible mess.

On the other hand, there are admirable qualities about her, and qualities that set her apart from other leads in the same demographic. Lucia might want to escape and live a frivolous life sometimes, but in the end, she could never do it. She's got a strong sense of responsibility, and despite her ignorance making people question whether she's fit to be a princess, she's very dedicated to her role. She sees being a princess as being a protector of the people and even the animals who live in her country, people she hasn't even met and has no idea how to rule. Lucia wants to do what's best for everyone and keep everyone safe; her subjects, her friends, the human world, even her enemies. Michel's emotional torture of Lucia worked -- and would have completely broken her psyche if not for her friends -- because she loves Kaito so much that she could never bear to lose him, yet she still had to refuse the offer to join Michel because she couldn't go along with anti-human genocide.

As mentioned before, Lucia has one trait that the previous Aqua Regina lacked: compassion for her enemies. This starts to grow when Caren refuses to join her cause because of her grudge against Rina and when Hippo falls in love with Yuuri and discovers that she's working for Gackt, but comes to a head when she meets Sara and has to reconcile the Orange Pearl Princess, an ally they absolutely need, with the person she knows is an enemy. Lucia will listen to other people's pain with an ultimate goal of healing them and getting them to stop hurting others, and she will not give up on this no matter what's been done to her. This attitude is brushed off as naive by many of the people around her, but her determination eventually infects them. Aqua Regina herself seems to be influenced by seeing Lucia and her friends, and goes from a person who would seal an entire race away forever for the crimes of its king to a person who acknowledges a repentant criminal's sympathetic backstory but condemns her crimes as unforgivable to a person who stands by accepting an all-forgiving judgment and helps to repair the lives of the affected. In the end, Aqua Regina gives up her life and her mantle to Lucia so she can carry on her job; that says a lot.

Ultimately, though, Lucia needs other people. This is even reflected in her powers, which get stronger with the number of people singing along (to take an example from the badly-drawn, filler-laden anime, six people singing the weakest song in the repertoire is about equal in power to, if not slightly stronger than, three singing the first-season eleventh-hour superpower number). She hides what's bothering her inside herself and needs other people to find out what's wrong with her and help her out; otherwise, she'll crack, and then we get Black Lucia like what happened to Sara, and then we're all screwed. Furthermore, love is the most important thing to her, and brushing off or insulting love either as a concept or as executed will send her into a flailing, ranting rage. She fangirls, she works hard to get and keep friends, she decides that people will be her friends right off and keeps working until she wears them down -- interpersonal connections are very important to her, and all of that implacable determination wears away when she's convinced that she's completely alone.

...Oh, and because of some bizarre quirk of mermaid biology, she gets drunk off carbonated beverages. Very drunk. Half a liter of cola and she's nearly incoherent and draping all over everybody.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Lovers
Justification: Because Lucia hits all the major "Shoujo Heroine" points, she also hits all the major points covered by the Lovers: aside from her obsession with love and her own romantic drama, she focuses a lot on feelings and on understanding other people. Getting and keeping everyone together was her quest in the beginning, and it was that goal that led her to not give up on Rina when she tried to do things on her own, on Caren when she called them useless puppets of a selfish queen, on Coco when she willingly gave up her freedom again and set them back because she didn't want them hurt, or on Sara when she turned out to be an enemy. She wants peace through mutual decision, not locking people away to breed hate for another thousand years. This sets her apart from the original Aqua Regina and also represents her choice to do things her way, a choice that Aqua Regina comes around to accept.

Lucia also represents all of the aspects of the reversed Lovers, sometimes even more so than the positive ones. Duality is obvious, as not only is she a magical girl, she also has to deal with being a mermaid while projecting herself as a human, as well as having gone through two years of not being able to tell Kaito that Nanami Lucia and Princess Lucia were the same and wondering if he loved both of her selves or just one. Postponing choices is also common -- she wanted to stay on the surface a little more before going to her country knowing she was a princess for the first time (which ended up being a good idea, with Michel showing up and all) and she encouraged her friends to go after the people they loved knowing that these guys were human and they couldn't stay together forever. As for internal conflict and troubles in a union, have you seen her love life.

Samples:
First Person Sample: Testrun
Third Person Sample: The girl with the hair ribbons was back in the school library. She didn't come there often, but once a month, a shipment would come in from the mainland with all of the school's magazine subscriptions. That meant that, as soon as the library volunteers were done sorting out the educational stuff, the sports stuff, and some religious fundamentalist magazine nobody was really sure why they kept buying, the girl would go straight to the latest copies of five extra-girly teen magazines. Seated right at the couch by the magazine rack, with her freshly-picked stack beside her, she picked one from the top and opened it. Anyone walking in would see her poring over the fluffiest of literature, with the covers claiming everything from grad dress shopping tips to advice on starting your own business to "healthy diet" tips to horror stories about why you shouldn't go on diets at all (both on the same cover).

It was almost as if she hadn't been crying last night over the phone network about wanting to go home.

Character Info:
Name:Rider
Age:30-ish
Canon:Fate/Zero
Pull Point:Post-gilgamesh battle.

Background Info:
History: wiki link
Personality:Rider's identity is none other than Alexander the Great, the man who practically conquered the entire known world at his time of living. His main goal in his conquest was to set foot on the edge of the world. He desired this over all else, and instilled the same sense of adventure he had to his comrades. Though, he was known as a tyrant, he did not believe in stepping on his own people to achieve his goals. He prefers conquest without death, defeat without humiliation. He offered the lands he conquered to join him in his conquest, to live and prosper under his vast kingdom. Yes, he was greedy, but he was able to convey his ambition to his people in his own fiery spirit, and they ultimately prospered because of it. However, those that stood in his armies way, who refused his generous offer and spat in his face, were taken down with ease.

Rider oozes confidence. He's not afraid of making bold moves in combat that would reveal weaknesses. He epitomizes the phrase "Come at me, bro". He believes he is the best, and all challengers are welcome to test that in honorable combat, no matter the medium. Whether it is clashing swords or downing alcohol, there is no challenge too great for him. He often encourages those who he deems worthy opponents to join his quest for glory, and to prosper with him in his goals of conquest. Which he will achieve, because he is the goddamn King of Conquerors. He is a fierce opponent, and while he believes in winning without murder, he will fight till his very last breath, and take risky moves because it's better than taking no move at all. If there's something he wants, he will take it. End of story.

Outside of the battlefield, Rider is what people would consider to be a "total bro." He's easy-going, never hesitating to crack a joke even when the situation looks grim. He wants to live his life to the fullest and achieve his dreams, and that includes enjoying life and everyone in it. He will not hesitate to share a drink with friend or foe alike. He at one point invites several other servants to share a drink with him and talk over a few bottles of wine. Rider spends most of his time materialized in the modern world indulging in its pleasures, much to the chagrin of his Master. He enjoys anything military related, and takes a great joy in learning all he can about the modern world. It'd be good to know, considering his plans for world conquest are far more important than the Holy Grail War.

His goals are lofty, and there's a reason for that. The bigger the goal, the more insignificant he feels compared to it, the greater his desire is to conquer that goal. He loves to challenge himself, he loves to push himself to be more of a man than any other man. No dream is too big or too impossible to achieve. He loves inspiring others to live the same, regardless of what they say in the matter. While he won't mock someone for their goals, he is not afraid to tell it like it is and say that they're too small or too terrible. He wants others to live as he is, because he only wants the best for his people. To him, his empire, people included, is the greatest treasure in the world.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Strength, changed my mind post-reserve.
Justification:
Rider's passion about conquest is what makes this choice stand out above the others. He truly believed he would reach the end of the earth, and that optimism is what kept him going. However, his greed and desires have often caused him to be labeled in the history books as a tyrant. He also had an extreme love for alcohol, an almost impulsive need to drink.
Samples:
First Person Sample:
[The video feed clicks on to Rider, relaxing in a lounge chair, bottle of beer in hand.]
So, I hear a bunch of us have these "Persona" thingies...What are they used for, anyways? If we're to meet on the battlefield, I say we have an all out brawl with them! Few things are as thrilling as an all-out brawl, wouldn't you agree? Free-for-all. Us, shadows, All are invited to the King's Grand Melee!
Third Person Sample:
If there was one thing Rider enjoyed about being in Prospero, is that it was so much different than Fuyuki. Visiting whatever bars and stores he could, completely immersing himself in the culture around him. However, when the Dark Hour came, this place felt no different than Fuyuki. The city became a battleground... The only difference between them was what they were up against and why. This however, did not bother Rider one bit. As he felt the Shadows surround him, he simply cracked his knuckles. This was the type of fight he loved. The more that began to surround him, the more alive he felt. The expression on his face could easily be expressed in four words: "Come at me, bro." As Rider threw the first punch at the Shadows, he could feel the Persona rising up from within him, aiding him in battle. It felt like he was on the battlefield with an old friend once again.

Character Info:
Name: Gratuity Tucci
Age: 13
Canon: The True Meaning of Smekday
Pull Point: Post-story

Background Info:
History: Wikipedia article TVTropes article (I can provide a more detailed writeup if needed)
Personality: Gratuity is very independent for her age, and quite able to take care of herself if needed. She is a quick thinker, and can often think of ways out of dangerous situations. However, most of the time, she will find herself panicking a little first before actually thinking of what to do. Despite the tendency to panic, she is not a coward, and will face danger head-on if she has to. She is also good at putting up a cool demeanor even when she is feeling panicked, mostly when she is being directly confronted by whatever is panicking her.

Gratuity is also very loyal to her friends and family. She stands by them no matter what, and although it can take a while to earn her trust if you make a bad first impression, once you've earned it, you've got it. She'd stand up to anything for her friends, and the best way to get her mad would be to hurt them.

However, to people outside of her circle, Gratuity is prone to sarcasm and the occasional wisecrack. While she can put up a friendly face if she needs to, most people she doesn't like will usually find themselves at the end of quite a few verbal barbs. She's also not above talking about them behind their backs, although she doesn't spread rumors-just makes it clear that she doesn't like them.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Magician
Justification: Gratuity is very resourceful and aware, as evidenced by her ability to survive mostly on her own after her mother was abducted. She also shows strong ability to take action, as she ends up being the one who makes the plan that ends up defeating the Gorg invasion.

Samples:
First Person Sample:

[An extremely annoyed girl is looking at the camera.]

Okay, what am I doing here, and where did this thing come from? Did I get abducted by aliens this time?

[A meowing noise comes from off-screen, and she bends down, picking up a cat in her other arm.]

Don't wander off, Pig.

Third Person Sample:

Lying down on her hotel bed, Gratuity decided that she did not like this place. She should have just left the others to fight those Shadows, but no, she just had to have some kind of chronic hero syndrome. She'd already saved her own world, and that should have been enough, but now she was fighting again, for a world she barely knew. Things back home had been quieting down for a while, and she had actually found herself missing some of the excitement that had come with fighting the Gorg invasion. Now, though, she remembered how tiring it actually was. Not only that, but she didn't even have J.Lo at her side anymore. Sure, he'd been annoying at times, but he'd also been her friend.

Not that she hadn't been meeting new people, and allying with them. But she'd only been here for such a short period of time, and couldn't consider them true friends yet. Oh sure, some of them were growing on her, and if she stayed here any longer, she knew they'd become friends. But right now...right now, Pig was the living creature closest to her, the one who understood her the most.

She supposed that she should consider that a blessing, being able to have her cat at her side, but it only made her all the more nervous. What if she got hurt by one of those Shadows? What if she wandered off, and Gratuity ended up going home without her? What if...?

Her thoughts were interrupted by Pig jumping onto her chest and pawing at her nose. "Merw!" she exclaimed, batting excitedly at her mistress' face.

"Okay, okay," said Gratuity with a laugh. "Let's go get you a treat." Getting up, she began walking towards the kitchen.

All things considered, it could be worse.

Name: Neville Longbottom

Age: 17

Canon: Harry potter

Pull Point: Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 , just before fetching the trio

Background Info:

History: Neville wiki

While this is a very good break down of Neville’s actions during the Harry Potter canon, this link mostly covers the book canon only. Book canon and movie canon are very similar in most ways but there are some significant differences that I’ll outline here:

The first/second movies

-No big differences.

The third movie

-Neville doesn’t ride on the train with the trio or encounter the Dementor with them in the movie version. This means he isn’t the one to pass on the information about Harry’s fainting to the rest of the school.

The fourth movie

-Moody is not shown putting Neville under the Imperius curse for class, but this is not contradict the events either.

The fifth movie

-Neville, yet again does not ride the train with his friends. Instead they board a carriage together after arriving at the grounds of the school.

-In the movie, Neville never mentions his ability to see the Thestrals during the carriage ride nor when they ride them to the Ministry. It doesn’t contradict any events for him to be able to, it’s just never mentioned.

-In the movie, Neville is the one to find the Room of Requirement for the DA meetings.

-In the film version, the trio never comes upon Neville visiting his parents in St. Mungo’s. Instead, the only person who finds out about his family is Harry. The two talk about Neville’s parents after a DA meeting in which Neville admits he’s not ready to tell his friends the truth.

-In the movie, it’s Lucius Malfoy not Neville who breaks the prophecy.

The sixth movie

-Neville isn’t shown fighting at the Battle of Astronomy.

The seventh/eight movie

-In the movie, it’s not stated whether Ginny leaves during the Easter holiday to go into hiding. The way the scene in the Room of Requirement is set up indicates she’d been there all year, meaning Neville was not the sole leader of the DA. However, he does seem to be the one everyone takes orders from.

-The movie also indicates that Neville has been attending class up until his pull point, instead of living full time in the Room of Requirement.

Personality:
As a Gryffindor, Neville is expected to carry the house’s notable traits of bravery, chivalry, courage, daring, and nobility. For most of his life, he was considered to fall short to all of these qualities by his peers. While other Gryffindor’s showed their colors in way that edged into recklessness, Neville’s heroics came out in more focused ways and showed only when they were truly needed.

One of his most prominent traits is loyalty. Neville goes to extremes in his loyalty to his house, his friends, and his beliefs. In fact it is from this loyalty that he expresses the well known characteristics of Gryffindors. His loyalty to his house causes him to stand up to his friends in his first year. His loyalty to Harry allows him to stand up to numerous people over the years, ranging from telling off his friend Seamus to following in the Boy Who Lived into battle.

Neville’s journey through the series has a lot to do with his bravery. Neville isn’t a hothead, or something who’ll just rush into things. He’s not someone who lacks fear. Neville walks into his problems carefully, considering, and fearfully. He knows fear but instead shows his bravery by working despite his terror. Going back to his loyalty, he shows himself as someone who works against his fear when he knows the people close to him need him to be brave.

Alongside this bravery is his strong sense of morals, which has been fostered from his parents career and toture. Neville believes strongly in doing the right thing and this leads him to act bravely. He knows, in his first year, standing up to his friends is the right thing to do and as such can work against his fear to do so. Later on, he knows standing up to the Carrows and resurrecting the DA is the right thing. And so he does, using the DA as a way to protect and give hope to his fellow classmates in a time of war.

At times, Neville does show the infamous Gryffindor recklessness. When facing the oncoming Snatchers from behind a protective shield, he unwisely taunts one of the world’s most feared werewolves. When pumped with enough adrenaline, such as during that night, he puts on an air of bravado and becomes increasingly bold with his words and actions.

Of course, Neville does retain several of the qualities others believed him to have. He is a quiet, awkward sort of person. However, age and experience have helped to make these traits far less crippling than they were when he was young. He can still be shy when pulled from his comfort zones, such as being faced with romantic inclinations, and he can be clumsy. But these traits are outweighed by the confidence he gained from joining the DA and fighting to keep other students safe from the Death Eaters in his seventh year.

Game Specific:

Arcana: Star

Justification: The Star represents, when in the upright position hope, confidence and inspiration. Neville is someone who lives on hope; hope the war will end, hope that he can save his fellow classmates from the Death Eaters, and hope that his friends out there beyond the castle walls will survive. He himself has become a symbol and bringer of hope by restarting and leading the DA and providing refuge and protection for the frightened youth of Hogwarts. One line sums it up best. “When people stand up…it gives everyone hope.”

Neville’s journey through the series has largely been about gaining the confidence he needed to become a hero of the war. He has grown into believing in himself and putting his confidence in others. The majority of his story has been based on him growing into his position as a leader who is capable of trusting his own abilities to be enough to solve problems.

In the upside down position, the Star represents self doubt which is one of the greatest pitfalls Neville allows himself to fall into. Though his journey has granted him confidence, even the most self assured of persons can fall to doubt when placed out of their element and Neville is hardly to most self assured person around. He still can fall to his anxieties when he is without the pressure of his responsibility or when faced with things he hasn’t faced before.

Samples:

First Person Sample:

Errm.

[Someone’s still trying to get a hang of this whole ‘technology’ thing and as such the settings are a little off and you’re now being greeted with a slightly askew, very brightly lit video of Neville shifting awkwardly.]

There’s a lot of things different here from where I’m from. Things here are quite as… Well, they aren’t the same. And I’m having a little trouble with doing some things I need to do.

I need to send a letter-you use the post here, right? - but I’m not sure how? [He makes it sound more like a question than a statement, and blushes.] I could use a little help with it. It’s kind of an important letter. I’d be willing to pay you back, if you would.

Third Person Sample:

Neville, after spending the last year rallying himself to be a leader for his classmates and a part of the war surrounding them, felt like he’d went back in time to that frightened, nervous little child he used to be. Everything here was so different than what he was used to; cars, stationary pictures, TV. He didn’t know how to deal with it all. More importantly he didn’t know how to deal with being stuck here, all of a sudden muggle and powerless and purposeless.

At school he had a purpose to be carried out. He had so many relying on him that it fuelled the recklessness in him, making him feel as brave a Godric himself and keeping him tall under the pressure of his duty. But here, feeling helpless, alone and reeling from culture shock, he sagged with the weight of responsibility. He didn’t know what to do or how to fix this in time to get back to his position and continue trying to keep those still loyal to Harry safe. It worried him far more than the other kidnapped souls stories of shadow demons and zombie attacks.

But he couldn’t break under that weight just yet, not until he’d seen the fighting through, not until this war was said and done, not until he made his parents proud. That meant finding a way back to his time and back to Hogwarts. And finding a spot of tea to sooth the nerves before he bloody fainted.

Characters Played: N/A; dropping Servant Caster

Character Info:
Name: Servant Archer
Age: Unknown, appears to be in late twenties
Canon: Fate/Stay Night
Pull Point:Post UBW

Background Info:
History: Link to the wiki article about him.
Personality: Archer is not a nice person. His view point is cynical, and it's not hard to see why. Archer's history is one of betrayal. Originally when he was younger, Archer desired to be a hero of justice. He strove with all of his might to live up to that ideal. One day in order to save a vast number of people, he made a deal with the world. In return for power, he would eventually serve the world after his death. Eventually after fighting to end a war, he was judged as having been the mastermind behind it and was executed.

After his death he was forced to serve as a Counter Guardian. Whenever there was a crisis, he was summoned and forced to end the crisis by whatever means necessary. Time and time again, he was forced to sacrifice one life to save another. He abandoned his ideal of a hero of justice, and he carried his work out with a ruthless efficiency.

However despite the fact that he became cynical and swore to forsake his ideal of becoming a hero of justice, he ultimately could not shake it. He is willing to warn enemies of an accidental blow coming their way, as seen in his fight with Caster. He's still willing to fight to the death if it means he can save someone. He has no problem throwing his life to the side if it means he can save even one person.

Archer is a man without limits, and if he has them then he doesn't know them. In order to acheive a goal, he'll take of any safety measure and do what it takes. In magecraft, pushing oneself tends to destroy the body. While Archer is only in his late twenties, it's evident that pushing himself to his limits with magecraft has taken its toll. Once fair skinned and with red hair, his skin has become tan and his hair bleached white. His body stands as a testament of how far he was willing to pursue his ideals.

Archer doesn't hold qualities like honor in very high In fact he often derides those that carry honor and pride into battle. To Archer, the end result is all that matters. When he was trying to live up to his ideal of being a hero of justice, he gladly sacrificed his honor and dignity if it meant that he could save more people. To him pride, honor, and dignity are all things that can lead to death on the battlefield.

Game Specific:
Arcana: Judgement
Justification: Archer is the end result of Shirou's original pursuit of a hero of justice. While originally discontent with how his path ended, via crazy time paradox he comes to a certain satisfaction that his original self won't follow the same path. He's guilty that he couldn't live up to his ideal. Stagnation in that he cannot progress.

Samples:
First Person Sample: [The feed shows a smug Archer, and in the background Saber can be seen sleeping peacefully in a bed.]

You know, I think I know quite a bit about swords. I've fought with them for my whole life. I've studied them time and time again. I've seen beautiful works of steel, but for some reason I think this Saber of flesh and blood is more beautiful than all of them. What do you all think?
Third Person Sample: Archer gazes at the machine of flashing lights and sounds. Two screens display a barrage of neon arrows, each swiftly descending to their natural conclusion. It seemed simple enough. Stomping on the correct switch at the right time in tune with the arrows would award points.

"Well? What do you say?" Lancer taunted, "You're not going to give up without even trying, are you?"

"Ha. As if such a machine could scare me," Archer replied, leaping onto the platform. Lancer of course chose the most difficult song imaginable, and suddenly they were off. The game left no room for error, but he was never one to consider such mistakes. Each step is measured with expert precision, and the arrows fall at a blistering speed. His legs were a blur, but so was his opponents. Lancer isn't one to let up his assault on the dance pad, and neither is Archer. While to any normal eye, the arrows might move at a blistering speed, to Archer's they were slow. He has seen attacks swifter than these. By the time the song is finished, Archer has a perfect combo. So does his opponent.

"Hm," Lancer muttered, viewing the results, "You want to go a second round?"

"Hmph, as if I'd let you get away that easily," Archer said with a light chuckle."
